From Apple To Samsung…The Journey Was Worth It
For anyone out there looking to make the move from Apple’s iPhones to Samsung’s S24 Ultra or to any Samsung Product I want to shed some insight on the move.
First off have an open mind and be prepared to take on a whole new world and OS. Samsung devices running AndroidOS will be unlike anything you ever experienced and you’ll ask yourself why hadn’t you done it sooner. Be prepared to be initially overwhelmed with all the customizable features the phones have to offer. Sure iOS is simple, smooth and “easy” it compared to AndroidOS it is limited. You’ll never know what you need your phone to do until you have the accessibility of much more in your hands.
Secondly be prepared to be free from having to watch your battery percentage. Having been an iPhone user ultimately since the 3GS I found myself having to keep my phone charged up daily. After disabling push email and some other settings I managed to get just a wee bit more juice out of my phone but I was pushing it. The battery on the S24 Ultra is heaven sent! The joy of being able to put my phone on the dresser at night or the nightstand for three maybe four nights in a row while having fairly decent battery life is astonishing! I prayed for this sorta battery life from my iPhones in the past but no dice sadly.
Thirdly I encourage you to explore your device. Sure it’s different, possibly larger in size, the display might be a bit brighter than you’re used to but my God it’s a beauty and you’ll never look at the iPhone the same again. Over the years I have toyed with the idea of having a Samsung as my primary device but ultimately went back to Apple. When I did I missed what I no longer had and my reasoning for keeping the iPhone was because my mother and other friends had it. Using iMessage was easier to communicate. Sadly after my mom passed away I felt I no longer had a reason to have the iPhone anymore. A lot of change came with her passing and thinking about going back to Samsung was one. Truth be told my mom and I actually discussed switching to Samsung before she passed, so this is sorta me paying homage to her in a sense. But back to the point once I got my hands on this beauty I was enamored! I toyed with getting the S23U but for some reason I couldn’t pull the trigger. Once I finally decided on doing it the S24U was literally coming up. This phone was delivered to me on launch day and I have not put it down since. For a few moments I did have buyers remorse but I overcame it quickly and realized this phone does everything I need and more. The Google PlayStore being full of free apps had me downloading almost all day at one point. Downloading things called launchers(themes or skins that make your phones user interface look different) was an amazing experience. One I recommend that I used before in the past is Nova.
Lastly remember nothing in life worth having is easy. You are going to go thru some troubles, issues, struggles and obstacles with the new phone but just like everything else you will overcome it. Having invested in a case, screen protectors, camera lens protector and setting up all my email accounts I was sold. Signing into my apps, banking apps, games and more I felt at home. Someone on this subreddit recommended GBoard for texting and it’s the next best things if not better than the iPhone keyboard. The form factor, screen display, camera, battery life, endless customization capabilities make this phone(S24U) a must have. My only gripe is that I was not able to move my text messages over from my iPhone but hey that’s life right? If I had to rate this phone I would give it a 9/10. A perfect 10 can’t be given because of the message issue.
