Dealership experience for Recall service/maintenance - surprisingly good!

I've seen and heard quite a bit of disappointing stories around the Genesis dealership experience, so I was honestly dreading having to bring my 2024 GV60 in this week for the recall services (I was already a bit turned off that the soonest appointment they had was like 2+ months out for these mandatory software update recalls).

I also have an Infiniti, and despite them circling the drain as of late...the Infiniti dealership experience was always excellent and felt like a true "luxury" experience anytime I had to bring my car in for service.

All that said...the experience I had, at least with the Dublin, CA Hyundai/Genesis dealership was actually quite good!

  • Got to the dealership, pulled my car up behind another car in the service line. Within 5 minutes I had a rep doing a walkaround/taking pictures of the car and confirming my appointment.

  • Spent about 10 minutes going over the service that was going to be performed (turned out I had 4(!) recall campaigns/updates that needed to be done, not 2)

  • Rep spent another 5 minutes also recommending to get the yearly maintenance done as my 3-year lease is hitting its 1st year just next month, so they were going to lump all of it and do it all with the recall updates (tire rotation/fill up tires, top off fluids, multi point inspection, free wash...the cursory stuff). All of the maintenance was covered/$0 cost.

  • I thought the recalls alone would take 1-2 hours but given everything, they did want to keep the car all day from 11am-6pm. Turns out I actually had complimentary valet service for this lease (unsure if it's a thing with every car's yearly maintenance schedule or just my contract/terms?) and the rep said I could have had Genesis pick up my car from my house directly and then do the maintenance and bring it back. Didn't know that was even a thing...but since I was already there they offered a $30 max Lyft credit but I got my own ride back home and they valet'd the car back to my house later that evening, free of charge (I did tip the driver lol).

  • In addition to the car wash they also vacuumed/cleaned the inside of the car.

  • I came to the dealership with 55% battery charge and it was dropped off with 94% charge.

  • The only settings that I noticed were reset was the seat adjustment (probably by the valet driver) and the climate controls. Car still had my profile and my other settings like the lights, etc. The dash/gauges/display settings were just as i'd left them. I haven't driven it yet though and didn't look to see if any of the lane assist/warning settings defaulted...but i'm sure i'll find that out quick enough.

Overall...the whole actual in-dealership "experience" seemed pretty quick and very considerate of my time, nothing really much to criticize if at all outside of appointments being so far out and them not communicating the "valet" options in some way in advance (though that could just be my own ignorance).

For others with a GV60 in the Bay Area...try out the Dublin, CA dealership and see if you receive similar service! I have nothing but good things to say about them as of now, my first experience overall was probably 9/10.
