Canada or Australia LONG TERM which is better
I know it’s been asked a billion times, but I’ve got no friends/life so I’m i have to ask the internet !
got an offer for both Australia and Canada.
background
I’ve got kids and I’m supporting elderly family members. So need to bring the kids and ensure they get good schools and send money back for elderly family.
both offering similar pay around £200k.
I’m just not sure in the long run what’s better.
short term both are better than here 😂.
Granted Australia is more expensive initially but they offer cash upfront to move, which helps. Canada offers nil but there is some initial income stabilisation it seems.
1.
canada seems more traditional in terms of work. And if you find a good fho you can earn more overall. That’s what I’ve been told.
so similar to a partner, you can step back a little but earnings won’t change much.
weather seems cold and not sure how depressed it can make you?
2.
Australia sounds more like Locum work in the UK. The more work you do, the more You will make.
weather is nice, however you can only work outside big areas for 10 years at least. which worries me for the kids.
The conundrum
but I’m 40 plus now. Working flat out for another 10 years is possible, but after that , what happens ?
what do Australian doctors do to keep income high? Are there similar “partnerships“ type practices? Or that’s the ceiling and you’ll just have to live with it ?
the question
what would you do?
