help understanding timeline

I have created a high level component called table. I have created components below that. The sketches for each component are separate and reside in the component.

I go to one of the components "left bottom rail" and move the time line back before the component was moved and several components disappear from the browser (see before and after snapshots)

My understanding was that these timelines were independent. What do I not understand ?
