Why am I turning the puck over so often?

Halfway into a season, I hold six of the "top" seven spots in giveaways and three of the top nine in takeaways. This is a trend that's held true across multiple franchises using all manner of tactics in pretty much every season I've played over a couple hundred hours in FHM 8.

Any ideas or advice on what I may be doing wrong? Do others have this issue?
