U324 Third Gen Ford Expedition 2007-2017

I’m puzzled by the third generation Expedition program code U324. Supposedly this was used for the 2007-2017 Expedition.

This linked website has a really nice history of the Expedition evolution over the years, including lots of information on the U324. However, any documentation I can find on the Expedition during these years (2007-2017) reference the prior generation U222 code (2003-2006). What gives?

Was the U324 program code ever really used? Not really a big deal, but it’s really been bugging me. For reference, I work on service parts and I’m trying to get to the bottom of this “mystery” as it relates to the lifecycle of some Expedition parts.
