Cashews related to poison ivy

My son was recently diagnosed with a cashew and pistachio allergy. I’ve read that they are closely related to poison ivy. Has anyone had any experience with this? I’m just wondering if he could potentially experience anaphylaxis if he were to touch it outdoors or maybe that’s silly. Thanks
