how to care for new ice skates?
hi! i'm a 15F beginner skater and i'm gonna start my first canskate classes on 7/30. just for some backstory: I've been mulling over the skates i wanted to purchase for myself but it was quite expensive (jackson artiste, retails at $240CAD), and asking my mom to pay for my lessons was expensive enough. But today my friend gave me her old jacksons 500 skate that she used before upgrading to an edea chorus (?) and i'm so incredibly grateful for it, it's a snug fit aswell.
but for now, how do i take care of my skates? i've watched videos but they all contain some sort of equipment, like the guards or the soakers, which i havent bought yet. i don't know when i plan on going to a pro/skate shop soon, but is there anything i should do to take care of it?
again, it's a Jacksons 500 that my friend got at a sporting goods store, which worked for her really well until she got promoted to a higher level and had to switch to edeas to accomodate to her level and skills. i don't have any guards or soakers right now, but its currently stored in my room in a shopping bag. ive seen videos say it can be stored at room temp.
