PLAYER career mode world cup?

I was playing normally and realised i was in 2028 according to the calender. My friend told me that he won the world cup in 2026. I did NOT get to play any world cup or even get the chance to qualify for it, can someone help me fix it so that i can join the world cup or sum in player career mode. My character plays for sweden, the same as my friend. I won every international friendly and did not get ANY chance to play
