New Owner!

Hello!

I recently purchased this 2017 a little over a week ago. I used the EV tax rebate through Keysavvy with a seller on Facebook Marketplace. It was a 2.5 hour drive back home with a trailer. 33k miles no accidents. Everything works great and my battery reads 115 miles at 100%. The previous owner even included 2 keys & the owners manual!

I’ve found these cars interesting for a while, and I decided to impulsively buy one as my first EV. I’ve never even driven a Fiat before until I bought it, so I was worried how I was going to fit being 6’2 but I fit surprisingly well! I have another vehicle but I only drove it once since I got the Fiat, and I drive a lot! The previous owner had an aftermarket stereo installed with wireless CarPlay which is really convenient as I’m used to that in my Toyota.

As Far as charging, I do not live in a city with a good public charging network. Funny enough, in the last photo I’m charging at the Fiat dealer for free block away from my house. I purchased a DeWalt 32A portable level 1 & 2 charger with both a regular household plug & a nema 14-50 plug. At my house, I do not have a 14-50 outlet so I have to use level 1 charging for the time being. I tried out my charger on my parent’s 14-50 outlet at their house and it’s pretty cool knowing that anytime I go to their house, I can leave with a full charge. They have solar too which is cool, but they don’t own an EV.

When it comes to what’s next for this car, I’m considering tinting the windows. Where I live the summers can get 100°+ and I’m thinking it not only will help the range with needing less AC but it’ll look nicer and have better privacy. I will definitely go legal, but I’m not sure if I want 5% on the back two & rear glass. I’d love to see pics of your window tint! Tires have decent tread so hopefully I won’t be replacing those soon. The backup camera on the stereo does not work and isn’t wired up so I need to take a look at that. If anyone knows a good spot to mount a backup cam please let me know!

I’m not sure what to do about home charging or if I even need to do anything about it. I would love to hear suggestions. I have 200a service so I could have a 14-50 plug installed and call it a day. Unfortunately my panel is somewhat far from my carport so wire won’t be cheap. If I want better charging speed, I can hardwire in a Tesla wall charger with the dual nacs/j1772 connector and have up to 80A with the right cord and future proof my home. I definitely wouldn’t though because the wire for 80A would be crazy expensive for me to run. The point of this car for me is to be cheap, I just sold a 2018 Mustang GT that I just found not necessary for me since I’m wanting to save money for investments. Aside from that, does anyone know the max amps for level 2 that my Fiat can charge at?

I use the VinWiki app so if anyone wants to follow along on my car’s journey, you can follow it on there: 3C3CFFGE3HT546035
