Struggling to find quests i can do

Ive been playing for a while now and have done both shady sands and junktown quests so i moved to the hub but all the jobs im given seem to difficult for what i thoughy was a mid-early game location. I tried killing mr heightower but all 8 of his gaurds swarm me and ian, the deathclaw is a deathclaw and the crimson caravan job is a week away. I also treid the boneyard but couldnt do anything there either. My equipment is a desert eagle and leather armour.
