What to do about bad reviews that don’t accurately depict your business
Hi looking for some advice. I’m 30F and work solo out of my own space. I love my clients and I know I do good work, however, I’ve had a couple clients that didn’t work out that both left me 1 star reviews on google recently.
Review one was from an older man who came in and made me very uncomfortable. I still gave him a great appointment and was polite. When he came back a second time not only did he show me he saved photos of me in a bathing suit from my personal Facebook but he also pretended to fall asleep during his treatment and let his arm “fall” onto my breast 🙄😭 I told him we were not a good fit and did not rebook him.
Review two is from a woman who wanted me to wax her daughter who was underage. My insurance policy allows me to do this with a doctors note (hormonal disorder) so I did have her come in, but it was instantly clear the daughter wanted no part in the waxing and it was completely the mothers choice. I decided not to treat.
I feel like both of these are acceptable reasons to not treat a client, but the 1 start reviews really bring my business rating down. I look at other spas around me and I don’t see bad reviews on their pages. It really brings my confidence down and I’m honestly really scared of offending someone in the future and getting another one.
The worst part is the older man that left the first review obviously wasn’t going to say I rejected his advances, so instead he just made up a situation that made me sound awful.
In a world where anyone can say anything about your business online, what do you do in these situations 😭
