How did we end up calling grain measurements “quarts?”

It seems to be pretty universal and it makes no sense. Back in the day, we used coffee cans to measure out grain and we always referred to it as quarts. But coffee is measured in pounds and quart isn’t even a dry measurement.

These are the things I think about when I’m doing chores at 6 am.
