Non-Medical Home Care Service Business
I want to start a non-medical home care service business. The services I would provide are things like transportation (grocery store, doctor appointments, etc), work around the house, basic outdoor yard maintenance (if they have the equipment), companionship, and other similar things they might need. Is there a demand for things like that? What would it be called? Im not interested in doing anything related to medical or health really as just a personal aide to help that person maintain their house and stay out of a nursing home.
I also have been doing research on the types of licenses and permits I would need to get to open this business and it is very confusing for me. Operating in NJ, would I need to get a home health care license? Im not going to be providing any services related to healthcare but I just want to make sure I don't get in any legal trouble. From my understanding, I would only need to create a business entity (LLC), obtain an EIN, register with the Secretary of State, business bank account, and professional liability insurance.
Just for context, I have been providing these types of services for a family friend for many years now on the side. I drive her where she needs to go and help her walk around and do what she needs to do, I clean her house, do outdoor yard maintenance, walk her dogs, and help her cook her meals. Is this something feasible that other elderly people would want as a service? I don't really want to market it as home health care bc I don't want anything to do with the medical industry and all its regulations.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
