Why do the Frogs/Lizards have some connection with Death?

Hey, just a random lore question. Exploring Ainsel Well and found those little lizard dudes with the big eyes who spray the death mist at you. What’s their connection with the death blight? Are they affected by Godwyn’s death/body or are they just randomly spraying that goopy death mist? I can’t imagine what lore there is to derive this answer from so I am excited for the speculation.
