Misconceptions about EDs

What do you think are one of the biggest misconceptions people have about eating disorders?

I’ll go first, Bulimic binge eating. I feel like a lot of people think that when we are having a binge episode we often go for junk foods or foods that are extremely unhealthy. And while that may be partly true, people have to understand that we simply eat whatever is we want at the moment, just in extremely large quantities, and/or short time periods. Be it a whole head of broccoli, or all the snacks in our pantry. We simply just can’t eat in regulation during our binges. I remember eating like 4 separate plants of boiled bok choy (Chinese cabbage which is notably extremely low in calories) in one sitting then STILL trying to purge it.
