QB Carousel Prediction and Associated Trade Target/Fades
While I'm waiting for the start of free agency, I find that this is my favorite time to make trades because it's the time of the year with the most risk/reward. For example, Justin Fields is not worth a late 2nd as a trade analyzer would say. He's almost definitely worth a late 1st or a late 3rd, but we won't know until the QB carousel stops spinning.
I've also been thinking about this too much because I want to know what to do with my shares of Russ, McCarthy, Richardson, and in general who else is a buy low.
Let me know where you think/hope differently, your favorites or least favorites, and/or some high risk buy or sells.
Titans: Rodgers/Levis - Not Rodgers first choice but my thinking here is the buzz around Giants trading up for Ward is true. I don't think Rodgers is a good fit with Chip Kelly.
Steelers: Fields/Daniel Jones - I think this is justifiable move based on how Fields did last year, and a more attractive long-term option that outweighs the negligible one-year advantage of Rodgers.
Raiders: Darnold/Milroe- Raiders have cap space for a Baker type 4 year/130 million type deal that has an out after year 2 to hand off the reins to Milroe.
Jets: R. Wilson/Jaxson Dart- Jets go for a boring, one-year stop gap while Dart is drafted as the future.
Giants- Ward/Winston- Giants trade up for Ward and get a non-threatening back up that's ready to step up for a few games if needed. Also thought Z. Wilson here for back up
Browns- Sanders/DTR- I don't love this one but I think despite his dad's best wishes, this is the NFL and not college. And the Browns need a QB- despite falling recently, he's still the number 2 qb.
Colts- Richardson/Mariota/Ewers- This might be hope based on my roster- but the Colts still are hoping for this to work. And while they want to bring in competition, you basically have to give the job to Darnold/Rodgers/Russ. So they bring in a tier 2/3 qb (Mariota) who they can say with a straight face performed well and is similar to Richardson's style so the offense doesn't need to change. Ewers is drafted as future hope/safety net.
Vikings- McCarthy/Z.Wilson- Vikings don't match the Raiders offer and hand off the keys to McCarthy. They bring in Wilson as the backup.
I'm targeting Fields and Wilson this time of year because I think their price is too low if they sign. In general, I think most these players values will be up in 10 days. Who'd I miss, what'd I mess up, and what's some of your predictions?
