Honda Transalp vs Honda Xr650L

Hi, I would like to get a new bike and these 2 are my top contenders. I like the vintage look of the XR650L and if I get it I would like to do some mods like changing the tank for a bigger one and change the panel/instrument cluster for one that has a fuel gauge. Other than those 2 things, the bike looks awesome and I've heard and read many good things about it.

Now, some drawbacks I see for the Transalp is the "high tech". I prefer something easy to fix that if it breaks in the middle of nowhere , I can do a temporarily easy fix to get home, and it being a newer bike, with drivings modes, ABS and a bunch of sensors I am worried that could be an issue on longer rides.

In my country (Costa Rica) a brand new XR650L has a price of $11 000 and the Transalp sells for $13 000.

Is the XR a good bike for highway cruising or should I just go with the Transalp? I do plan on going off road quite a bit but not anything enduro like.
