Differences between games on different consoles??

I play on my iPad- but I keep hearing about things like Star Path that I can’t seem to find in my game. Is this just a difference between playing it on iOS and a console? (I’m not a “gamer” this is the first game I’ve gotten into for longer than a week in a long time)
