Why cliffhangers in Dexter are so weird?
Like, in many series at the end of the episode you are left thinking „what will happen”.
In Dexter’s episodes „what will happen” is revealed in the same episode just before the end and instead of intense cliffhanger we’re left with smaller one.
For example: I feel like more natural cliffhanger would be „whether Deb will shot LaGuerta or Dexter” as a season finale. But instead they showed us the choice.
Another one: „Whether Deb will see how Dexter kills Travis or not”. Instead, we know that she sees it.
And I see this pattern very often, both in season and episode’s finale.
Even in series finale, they told us that Dexter make it through the hurricane and become a lumberjack. Instead of leaving as an unknown whether he make it.
I feel like more aggressive cliffhangers would be more interesting and above all they would give screenwriters more freedom. New blood screenwriters wouldn’t have to explain the lumberjack, they could decide for something different. Similar with season’s finale.
Why they made it like that?
