Are Perfume Companies Watering Down Scents for India? 🤔

Hey fellow fragrance addicts!

Yesterday, I walked into Shoppers Stop with high expectations, ready to sniff my way through some of the most hyped fragrances—Dylan Blue, Versace Pour Homme, Azzaro Most Wanted, Boss Hugo… you name it. But honestly? None of them lived up to the YouTube and Reddit hype. I kept waiting for that "wow" moment, but it just never came. 😕

And now, I can’t help but wonder—are brands selling diluted versions in the Indian market? Are we getting a weaker formulation compared to the global market?

This thought takes me back to an experience in Ahmedabad. I was at a corporate event when a senior gentleman (probably in his 40s) walked in, and boom—his fragrance took over the room. And mind you, these were big rooms! Even at an outdoor party, his scent had an undeniable presence. It wasn’t just strong—it was commanding, the kind of fragrance that exudes authority and respect. But since he was a senior figure, I didn’t dare to ask him what he was wearing. 😅

Since that day, I’ve been hunting for something equally unique and unforgettable. Right now, my final contenders are BDC (Bleu de Chanel) and Dior Sauvage. Hoping one of them finally gives me that signature scent moment I’ve been chasing.

Have any of you faced a similar letdown with hyped perfumes in India? And does anyone have a guess on what that powerful fragrance could’ve been?

Would love to hear your thoughts! ✨
