PIP Phone Assessment - “Do You Work?” Question

I have a PIP phone assessment coming up soon and need advice on how to answer the “Do you work?” question.

• I don’t have a traditional 9-5 job, but I do some passive online stuff which although I haven’t done it since summer 2024

• I don’t make enough to pay taxes, but enough to let HMRC know and my accountant helps me with the self-assessment tax return.

• The issue is that my parent, who will be with me during the assessment, doesn’t know about this work and will likely say I don’t work because they think “work” means a 9-5 job.

• I’m also worried that if the assessor asks what the job role is, I’ll be in an awkward position because it’s not a typical job title and again my parents don’t know and I’d be in trouble if they did.

I’m autistic and when someone mention jobs I immediately think they’re referring to a 9-5 or office jobs or regular jobs.

Also what questions should I expect them to ask me?
