Is It Time to Revamp One-Day Cricket?

I've been thinking a lot about how predictable and boring 50-over matches have become. The recent Champions Trophy 2025 was a clear example, matches felt more like a test of patience than thrilling contests.

In the past, cricket has evolved to keep fans engaged. The introduction of T20 in the early 2000s brought a fresh, fast-paced format that drew in massive audiences. Changes like powerplays, fielding restrictions, and free hits were designed to make the game more exciting.

So, what if we took it a step further? Imagine a 100-over match divided into four innings, with each team batting twice. This structure could add layers of strategy and keep fans on the edge of their seats.

One major benefit of this format is that it would level the playing field when it comes to weather and pitch conditions. Currently, the team batting second can be at a disadvantage if the pitch deteriorates or if weather conditions change. By allowing each team to bat twice, these factors would have a more balanced impact on the game.

This change could bring back the excitement we've been missing in one-day cricket. What do you all think? Is it time for a revamp?
