Will England ever get the recipe for winning in India again?

The problem with England is winning in India requires two very important facets in a team. First is a good spin attack and second is a middle order which can negate spin against long long spells. Unlike Australia, Nz and South Africa, teams which have one fixed spinner in Lyon, Santner and Maharaj respectively, England has stopped investing in a single spinner and preparing him for such a series. They had Rashid in 2016-17, Leach in 21 and now three entirely new faces this time. This must also create a negative impact on their domestic circuit, where players will hesitate in becoming a specialist spinner, as their career spans only for subcontinent tours. Their last long term spinners were Panesar and Swann, with whom they won here the last time! In order to take down the team throughout the series you need experienced bowlers and in countries like India, Srilanka and Bangladesh you need spinners who can win you games. Second, apart from root no one is experienced in playing long innings against spin. Yes you can have a Bazzball approach like Pope's or Duckett's, but it won't win you series in the subcontinent. Looking back at the 2012 series, they had stalwarts like Peterson, Trott and Bell who gave great support to the openers. In the last two tours only Root was consistent in the middle order and even he is failing in the current one! If they don't focus on these things, they are not winning a series in India anytime soon!
