Can anyone explain why this cut came out wrong?

I measured lengths a, b and c and cut to size. After the cut did not fit I calculated c using pythagoras, and indeed the result was ~10cm longer than my measurement. Why, and how should I proceed for the rest of this roof?

(a=55.5cm ; b=69.6)
