Problems with family prayer
I'm 25 my wife is 23 and baby is 8 months
As a catechumen in Eastern Orthodoxy, I'm eager to cultivate a strong prayer life with my wife, who is also a catechumen. However, I'm consistently met with resistance. Every morning, I invite her to pray with me using the Orthodox Prayer Book, but she often dismisses the idea, gets visibly frustrated and talks about random things that have to get done. Similarly, when I suggest saying the mealtime prayer, she becomes frustrated, making me feel like I'm the one imposing an unnecessary burden.
This situation troubles me deeply, as I fear that without my initiative, prayer would become an afterthought in our household, relegated to a brief, superficial moment of prayer once or twice a week. As someone striving to establish a strong Orthodox christianity within our family, I feel frustrated and concerned about the lack of priority my wife gives to prayer.
