Does anyone else have any complaints/bad experiences with TN American Water and/or the Hamilton WWTA (Sewer Company)??
Out of all the utility services we have to deal with, by FAR these 2, then water & sewer companies, are the worst. This is the third time that when my bill has been late, the water company waits until 3:00 on a Friday afternoon to come and turn off my service, and will NOT dispatch anyone to turn the water back on after business hours.
Today, and yes I realize my bill being late was my fault, but today my water was turned off at 2:30. I paid the bill at 3:10, and then immediately called the water company to confirm my payment and to confirm that they'd be here today to turn it back on. I did this because I knew that if they didn't come today, they wouldn't come until Monday, leaving us without water all weekend. They said that yes, there was no issue and they'd be here before 5 to turn on our service.
At 5:15 they still hadn't shown up, so I called again and they said that everything on their end appears that we will still have our service turned back on. I then get a call after another half hour of panicking, but it goes to voicemail as I was still at work. They called and left a message stating they would be tacking on another $15 charge for after-hours reconnection, IF they still show up today, which is TOTAL BS. At 6:15 they actually DID show up, which was a miracle.
My problem is this. The electric company, cable, cell phone company, even car insurance will call and/or email me to give me a heads up that my bill is past due or that a disconnect is pending. They all will work with you on payment extensions, plans, etc., as well, except for the water company and sewer company. Meanwhile, my water bill has went from $45 to $95, and my sewer bill has went from $75-80 to around $135-150 per month. The sewer company states this is for "required upgrades" but I've yet to see anything upgraded, improved, or anything else except their bank accounts. I know this is fresh and I'm EXTRA angry, but seriously, what kind of company seems like they actually PLAN to leave someone literally high and dry over the entire weekend??
