Anyone know why my reclaim looks like this?

Reclaiming clay is very new to me and I’ve only made about 4 batches so far. This time around the consistency of the slippy (pre plaster boarded) clay is weird. It’s sort of grainy and chunky/flaky at the same time. It almost reminds me of very non-plastic clay that rips easily. Anyone know why this might happen? The reclaim was made with regular box-clay scraps from hand building and water from the wheel.
