My cat won’t let me sleep

I adopted a sweet little boy, who is also and orange tabby (my first mistake, but I wanted something that would keep me active and entertained). I’ve only had him a couple weeks, he’s a big cuddle bug and about 8-10 months. But he won’t let me SLEEP. Not only trying to wake me up when it’s food time, but all night he wants cuddles and attention so he smacks me and screams in my face. I even tried leaving a little food based on some other posts, I play with him before bed until he seems worn out, he has tons of toys. But he lets me sleep maybe 4 hours a night and I’m starting to wish I hadn’t gotten him. Any suggestions?
