Card I Didn’t Order
So I just got a cash app card in the mail that I definitely didn’t apply for.
I called the number on the card to close the account, and the person was asking for quite a bit of personal information that made me nervous. I did share my name, phone number, the username on the card, and my zip code.
But then they wanted bank account information which seemed strange. I didn’t have any to share, since I didn’t create the account, but I told them I wasn’t giving any more information and wanted the account closed.
After a short hold they sent me an email form to get the account closed, which is asking for:
- Full name
- Name listed on card
- Has anyone previously lived at this address
- And a link to share images of the card I investigated the link and it seems real.
Does this seem normal for closing an account?
A quick google search makes it obvious my customer service options are severely limited, and that scams are not uncommon here.
