I need to sell my car and purchase a second hand/new car. What is the best way to do it?

My father bought a maruti suzuki eeco in jan 2024 and we need to sell it and buy a 5 seater family car. This can be a new car or a second hand one. I checked the resale price on cars24 and spinny and both are stating around 4.5 - 5 lacs. We need to buy a car that is no more than 1 lac more than the selling price of ecco. Here are some questions that I have:

for selling:

  1. Am I getting a decent price from these platforms? If not, where should I try to find the best resale price? Are these prices negotiable on these platforms?

for buying:

  1. What are the things to keep in mind while buying a second hand car?
  2. I see that spinny and all offer cars that are 2016/17 models. Is it okay to buy cars that are 7-8 year old?
  3. If i go with a new car option, what is the best car available in the range of 6-6.5 lacs (max).
