MATA help

Does the 17 weeks of MATA leave start after two weeks of sick leave? I'm applying for MATA/PATA and I was in the hospital for 4 days, then the MIR is giving me 2 weeks of sick leave. My clerk is setting the MATA/PATA leave up for me but she's including the hospitalization and sick leave in the 17 weeks of maternity leave so I'm technically getting less than 15 weeks of MATA. Is this normal? I thought maternity leave would start after the sick leave.

Any help with this will be greatly appreciated!!
