Winter tires for CX-50 HYBRID GT

The sales guy at dealership mentioned that I can put 17" winter tires. Normally, the car comes with 225/55R19 all-seasons. Wondering which tire size I should go for in winter? I.e. would the tire width and aspect change along with diameter
