Beginner Recommendations

I have yet to own a firearm and now that I have the means to obtain one, I’d like to ask what are some of the better first time handgun choices. I will primarily be using it for frequenting the range, home defense and possibly as an armed security guard. Preferably something durable that will last thousands of rounds & good for concealed carry. Also not too small, as my hands are fairly large. Last but not least Happy New Year’s to all!
