YSB Chronicles Part 5: Predator in the Classroom, Protecting brand over Students
Before I begin, I want to clarify that I’ve deliberately chosen not to name anyone involved. This isn’t about exposing anyone. It's about highlighting a deeply troubling event that might continue to thrive unchecked. I urge readers not to speculate about identities, but instead reflect on the systemic rot that enables such stories to unfold. The title has also been kept vague so that the institute can't pull this post down.
Student-teacher relationships are a clear violation of professional ethics, and for good reason. The power dynamics are inherently skewed. What may seem like consent is often shaped by fear, pressure, or misplaced trust. When one party controls grades, recommendations, or career outcomes, there is no true equality. That imbalance makes any romantic or sexual relationship not just inappropriate, but exploitative by nature. Institutions must recognize this and act accordingly.
There’s an Assistant Professor at YSB who is widely known for his crass misbehavior. Women from previous cohort have quietly warned incoming students about his behavior: How he charms his way into students' lives, how he fawns over women, how he hosts parties for students at his home, and sends inappropriate texts to students. Allegedly, he collects inappropriate photos of women under the guise of a relationship. When the girl tries to distance herself, his true face emerges: Blackmail, revenge, and threats. This year, it reached a breaking point when police showed up at his apartment. He jumped from his balcony to evade questioning.
What did YSB do? Perhaps something behind closed doors. But, nothing public to reassure its female cohort. No statement, no accountability. Is there a code of conduct for faculty-student relationships? Who knows. All swept under the rug in the name of preserving brand value. His name may be off the faculty page, but his LinkedIn profile still shows him proudly affiliated with YSB. Is he still associated with YSB? Was there any action taken against him? Again, nobody knows. This particular case came out in the open, but, how many more such predators in the guise of Professors does YSB have?
An institute of repute must lead with integrity, not hide behind branding. Clear policies on faculty-student relationships are non-negotiable. There must be a zero-tolerance stance on abuse of power, strict guidelines on personal boundaries, and swift, transparent action when those lines are crossed. Protecting students should never be optional, it must be policy, culture, and priority.
To future students, especially women, please be cautious. Know that the institute may not always protect you. Never send intimate photos to anyone, especially in such an environment. The burden shouldn't be on you, but until things change, protect yourself. Speak up, look out for each other, and don’t let silence win.
