Prepare for your airline options at BNIA to get drastically reduced
Let's face it, Canadian trips to the U.S. are dropping drastically. This will include Canadians using BNIA for trips to U.S. destinations.
The Buffalo airport finally rebounded to 5 million passengers per year in 2024 after years of Covid related passenger drops. This put it back into a medium hub tier that airlines will notice for additional service. But remember, Canadians have made up about 1/3 of this passenger traffic at the Buffalo airport. Airlines have already started cutting service as Canadians avoid the U.S.
Service cuts will likely mostly impact flights to Florida, which was a big market for Canadian travelers as well as expansion to new markets.
And forget about the hoped for direct service to Dublin, Ireland with Aer Lingus that was quietly being worked on by the NFTA. They'll never sell the BUF market now with a drastic drop in airport traffic.
And all of this is because of one person opening their big orange mouth.
