Passive investing impact on markets

I’ve come across a lot of coverage lately claiming passive investing at large scales is hurting markets.

Any thoughts, or good reading, to counter this?

My hypothesis is that this is not true. Because if it were, active investors would find a way to bet against this and make lots of money. Which doesn’t seem to be happening.
