What this subreddit is about, and what it ISN'T. Please read before we have to remove your next post.
This is a repetition and rephrasing of my post from a month ago here.
I had to delete four posts in the last three days.
What this sub isn't about:
For those of you who think the sub is too strict with the deletions, please consider the following. We all love the explorative aspect of this game, and how much there is to discover on our own. It would be a shame if people gave parts of that away beforehand. The individual original experience must be pristine. And people will come in here and join the subreddit without having played the game, or having only played very little.
They deserve to experience and discover the game without prior information, just the same way you did!
As much as I understand your willingness to share all the cool things you found, this is not the place to share them (EDITED ca. 10 hrs after posting: To clarify, we'd encourage you to share those somewhere else, the discord for example. You are not forbidden from posting them here, it is just discouraged). If you still cannot overcome your desire to share, at least make sure, that the title (which cannot be changed) and the text (which can be read without clicking on the post) is absolutely free and void of spoilers.
A spoiler is anything that is not immediately obvious from the trailers.
How to post with a spoiler:
Title
The title of the post must not contain any spoiler. Since titles cannot be changed, the post must be deleted if it does contain any. Keep the title on the neutral side. You can tell people that you achieved something great without giving away information.
Text
The text can contain spoilers, but these must be put in hidden text like this: hidden text.
Images
If the image contains a spoiler, hide it with a spoiler mark.
Tags
If it contains a spoiler, add the spoiler tag. If it doesn't, apply any other relevant tag.
Videos
If the thumbnail of the video contains spoilers, please put the link in a comment instead of the main video link.
Further notes: This subreddit is not a database.
The goal of this subreddit is not to accumulate all the information about this game as a lookup-guide. Please avoid posts like that.
What this sub is about?
Now, combining the willingness to share everything about this game with the rules of this subreddit currently makes scrolling through it look like a slideshow of blurred images. I don't mind that. There are however other things that can be posted and shared:
- Your favourite content creator just went live/released a video about the game? Tell us a bit about the creator and link the content. This includes promotion of your own content, as long as it's relevant to Blue Prince. Briefly check to make sure the player does not violate rule 5.
- There's been a recent article in some form of media? Share it! Let's discuss the opinions of the author.
- Thoughts about a room or an item you particularly like? Make a post about it. Have discussions about what's your favourite room. Make sure to not spoil it in the title though, otherwise it will be removed. Title like "Thoughts on my favourite item in the game" or "What's your favourite Room?". Also make sure that any spoilers, including the name of the item or room, are in hidden text in the main post body.
- WWYD (what would you draft). Make a post about a situation you've experienced and were unsure which of the options to choose. Or make one up. Create a situation in which you think there is only one logical option, and it will be like a puzzle. Include a map of what the floor plan was at the point of the decision. And if any of the rooms in the plan or the options are not in the trailers: put a spoiler on it.
- The oldest posts in this subreddit are memes. Post them, all of them. Just make sure they don't give too much away, and if they do, put a spoiler on them.
If you're still unhappy about the censorship, let's have a discussion. As long as everyone remains civil, and attempts to understand the other's perspectives.
The post I made last month was upvoted and did not have any comments. That made it appear everyone was in a general agreement.
