Failure, but going to try again

Was attempting my first bow tie inlay for a crack in a piece I was going to use as an end table for a gift. I practiced some of the steps on scrap wood. It was halfway in with a board and hammer. Went for one more hit with the hammer and hole thing cracked. Gave up for the rest of the night. But I think I learned a lot and I’m going to try again.
