Anyone here on mental health medications that inhibit orgasm?
(27 f) I’m taking some very necessary medications for my mental health. They allow me to lead a functional professional life and maintain family relationships so I need them but they also raise my prolactin levels. Prolactin can change how your body reacts to sexual stimuli and as a result I have a very hard time reaching orgasm. It’s very hard to become aroused even when I want to be. My body just doesn’t seem to react to the stimuli that much. Sometimes I’ll try to use porn, but can rarely find anything that I actually like or that triggers that arousal. Sex with my partner is always fun and pleasurable but I still am not having an orgasm. We use a plethora of toys, we’ve been trying new things, my partner is very attentive to my needs. I just can’t get there. It’s frustrating for the both of us.
Does anyone here have a similar experience? I’m not sure where to turn next. Also, I know welbutrin is often used for anorgasmia but I’ve taken it before and it caused me to go into psychosis. I had to be monitored for 3 weeks afterward until I was used to my new meds because I was in such rough shape. So I guess I don’t know what I’m looking for as an answer here. Maybe something along the lines or meditation techniques? That seems like something that could be helpful. Thanks for reading.
