Music Library

Like most people who get into this hobby, I love music. I have been collecting FLAC/Lossless tracks since 2006, when I first got an external CD drive on my PC.

These days I’ve gotten into beatport/bandcamp for new music releases and I always do my very best to get Lossless audio. In my experience, it’s perfectly acceptable to convert any tracks to MP3 but libraries should be studio fidelity just in case you do have to play on a club PA system. Lossy tracks sound worse the better the system is.

Now that I’m taking this a bit more seriously I’m starting to compile some of the best dance hits from the 90s in 2000s going year by year. A lot of this older music isn’t readily available for legal downloading on any websites I could find. If you know of one, please let me know. I’ve been purchasing used CDs from Discogs and ripped them into AIFF myself - a tedious process that can get expensive.

If you’ve also been through this stage of backlog music collecting, any advice would be appreciated.
