I hope guns in the next battlefield aren't all laser beams
Ive noticed a recent trend with these large scale FPS games lately where they all have this same zero recoil gun play.
There is no need to burst, tap or do anything other than spray at any range and it is a complete joke. In every prior BF game you actually had to control your weapon to a degree, not on the level of something like ARMA in terms of recoil but it existed and added a skill gap. In 2042 the guns have essentially no recoil at all.
If they make the gunplay as casual as it is in BF2042 it will fail. If the gunplay is too simple and easy and there is nothing to master, the game will get boring very fast and people will stop playing.
It also better not have that awful random recoil that BFV had. It literally made the game intolerable to play when my gun would just wonder of in 7 different directions. Gunplay needs to be something to be mastered so it needs to be hard but consistent.
Honestly it might not even be too bad of an idea to take some inspiration from CS on this. It might seem odd but if guns had detailed spray patterns, it would mean to spray them you have to learn the pattern, this adds skill. It also means you really need to take time to master a gun. This will stop guns feeling the same as they will literally move differently in your hand.
This would have to be unique to PC most likely though as on a controller this would be impossible. So no crossplay, but it would make the gunplay extremely satisfying and detailed.
Adopting this style of gunplay would certainly be an experiment, but its also one that could very easily be undone if it doesnt really work.
