How to keep snow from clogging the pinholes in my boots?

I ran into an annoying situation last night where every time my skis released, I couldn't keep packed snow from clogging the receiving holes of my Scarpa F1 LT boots. As a result I couldnt get back into the bindings easily even when using sharp objects to dig it out. Any suggestions for preventing and/or curn=ing this problem?
