Graduation 4/21/2021, 38+3 - scheduled c section

Some background info: I had a scheduled c section on 4/21/2021 to bring my baby earth side. This has been a complicated pregnancy and the latest complication was my placenta aging prematurely since around 32 weeks if I’m recalling correctly - with each ultrasound it got worst and worst, to the point I was diagnosed with a hyper-calcified placenta. I was extremely nervous about baby being in distress but thankfully each Doppler revealed baby’s oxygen levels were good and somehow the placenta was still proving some level of nutrition and I made it to the scheduled date.

Now, the birth.

I arrived to the hospital, got admitted and walked to pre-op where they put an IV and shortly after I was taken to the OR. They hooked me to stuff and positioned me to get the spinal which was number 3 for me but that first numbing shot always surprises me and makes me jump, the anesthesiologist wasn’t happy lol. After that was done I laid flat with my head slightly tilted down and few minutes after it was show time - my blood pressure dropped few times making me vomit but that was over soon.

I felt tugging and a lot of pressure while my doctor was getting the baby out, he shook my whole body lol.... then I heard my baby cry, after such a difficult pregnancy I heard my baby cry, I can’t explain to you how that felt 🥲. They showed her to me and I had to hold back my tears, it was the most amazing day of my life.

Then some more pressure, doctor stitched me up and in less than 10 minutes after the doctor was done I was in my room breastfeeding baby, she latched like a champ lol.

I was on my feet and walking the day after, they cleaned me up and removed my catheter, few hours later they removed my IV. I definitely had pain but it wasn’t anything crazy, I managed just fine with just ibuprofen (the doctor gave me other stuff but he said I can skip it if I don’t need it so I did) and even walked myself out of the clinic to go home (I don’t think I was supposed to do that lol but nobody noticed). At home I was in pain still of course but I managed to move around just fine.

The scar looks great to be honest, even the day after, super low and very thin.

So, it was a very positive experience and the only note to myself is to take it easy because I got home and was moving too much, not eating well, not sleeping well and ended up having a very scary morning so I came to stay with my mom for 4 nights.

Also, the swelling 😐, oh man, rest rest rest so you don’t make your swelling worst like I did. My feet were about too explode at home and after I came to my mom’s house they reduced by like half in less than 24 hours.
