Switching careers as a young teacher.
Hello, I am about to enter my second year of teaching secondary in NSW and so far enjoy teaching. I currently hold a temp part time position due to holding another job I absolutely love (it is casual and also education based). I have had the usual ups and downs as a first year teacher, although have considered leaving my school due to a plethora of reasons.
I know finding another job at another school is very much possible, although my other job I do casual has a very appealing job that is full time. This job is based around my specialty subject area and in education, part of the public sector and is something I can see much career growth. I have applied for the job, but feel like I may not be qualified, good enough or capable of doing that line of work. It will also be a huge shift, due to being more of a ‘corporate’ job and I do love the school holidays :(
Currently at a massive crossroads at nearly 24 years old, as I feel like I should chase my dreams of pursuing a high position in a state government sector, rather than staying as a teacher. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks for reading my inner thoughts and rant :)
