Temporary chip swapping for memory cards

I have a couple memory cards, one of them (top) worked like 8 months ago and stopped working at some point. The bottom card is my new one with 1 new and recent save. The chips are the same size and have the same amount of connectors, and was curious if I could swap them and buy another memory card to get my old saves onto a new card, or if I can just swap the chips and use as is. I’d like to start playing PlayStation 2 again and would like to have access to my saves.

Yes I have tried cleaning it and never fixed the issue.
