Can Sweet Potatoes Work In Chili?
I normally do a pretty basic crock pot chili: ground beef, beans, tomatoes, onions, medium heat chili mix, beef broth, roasted red peppers, and the small red potatoes. Well, I forgot the potatoes at the store but do have 2 large sweet potatoes! Was thinking about experimenting with them as I like having the added bulk, but wonder if/how I should add the sweet potato.
Boil them first? Or just chop and add directly? Small chunks so the flavor cooks in? Or big chunks so it's less mushy? Any spices I might consider adding to offset/compliment the added sweetness?
Thanks for any experience or ideas you could offer! If it's a bad idea I'll just shelf the sweet potatoes for later :)
