Living on my land

Looking at buying land in NSW, it’s the perfect block for us but we wouldn’t be able to build a house on it for a few years. We don’t have the income to buy the land and rent. Do we have any other options? There is already a fully self contained shed, could we live in that for a couple of years, or maybe on a caravan on the property? Can council evict you from your own land? Just trying to make it through the rat race!
