MSc vs MRes

I’m currently in a MSc program and considering a MRes after graduation both in the UK. Anyone with a MRes care to offer their experience? Did you like it? Hate it? Was it what you expected? Do you feel it is held in a higher regard than a MSc?

The massive thesis involved with a MRes seems incredibly overwhelming but I like the idea of researching, learning and graduating with a highly specialized and specific set of knowledge that is relevant to my interests and specific career field.

Background might be useful for context: I’ve lived in Central Asia and work in rural/remote development

Considering studying: MRes Climate Change Adaptation - some type of research project focusing on rural mountain development in Central Asia and issues relating to sustainable climate adaptation
