Russians who have moved to or visited Canada, biggest culture shocks/differences?

I'm working on a novel, currently in early plotting/character development stages, and one of the characters is a Russian immigrant to Canada. He's not the main character but is still pretty important so he'll have lots of page time. I'm just looking to hear from anyone who has moved to Canada or just spent a longer amount of time here and what that experience was like. Big cultural differences, challenges, things you miss or really enjoy, stuff like that. Anything else you think would be important to know too. Thanks!!
